Museum of Zhostovo possesses a precious collection of authentic trays which are of great significance for the history of russian art.

Zhostovo school grows from confusion of cultures. On one hand peasant artists of  west-oriented  earl Sheremetiev  were nursed on Flemish,  Dutch, French  and Austrian painting.  On the other hand European lacquer art experienced deep influence of  India, China, Japan and Iran.  Also don't let us ignore the natural impact of the Ural tray painting which was effected by Byzantia.
